Embry-Riddle in Prescott , Arizona proudly announces Helicopter Flight Minor. This academic minor can be used towards many four-year degrees. It consists of three ground schools designed to prepare students for the FAA helicopter pilot written knowledge tests, and an additional class in Aeronautical Science, Aviation Safety, or Meteorology. To complete the minor, students earn their helicopter pilot certificates at an FAA approved 141 flight school. Advanced standing (college credit) is then awarded for each helicopter pilot certificate or rating earned. Over thirty students have enrolled in this program. Future graduates with a degree from Embry-Riddle and a minor in Helicopter Flight will set the new industry standard for safety and professionalism. Post graduate employment success stands consistently at 100%.
In addition to a minor in Helicopter Flight, an entire degree program can be built around existing flight hours as a helicopter pilot or an A&P mechanic certificate. As much as 36 semester hours of credit can be awarded based on helicopter experience & training and all of it applied towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautics. Associated with this program are many Cooperative study opportunities. Courses in Business, Aeronautical Science, Aviation Safety, and Meteorology can all be used to round out the student's aviation education and prepare them for the next upward step in their aviation career.
